Parti\u00f3 en paz esta ma\u00f1ana, rodeado de su amada <strong>familia<\/strong>\u201d, se lee en el comunicado.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La <strong>familia<\/strong> agreg\u00f3 que, aunque lloran su ausencia, celebran el <strong>legado eterno<\/strong> de su <strong>m\u00fasica<\/strong> y los recuerdos que cre\u00f3, y pidi\u00f3 respeto y <strong>privacidad<\/strong> durante el duelo.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">De ni\u00f1o prodigio a \u00edcono de la <strong>salsa<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Nacido el 28 de abril de 1950 en el <strong>Bronx<\/strong>, Nueva York, hijo de padres y abuelos puertorrique\u00f1os, Col\u00f3n mostr\u00f3 <strong>talento musical<\/strong> desde temprana edad. Se form\u00f3 tocando clarinete, trompeta y finalmente tromb\u00f3n, influenciado por artistas como Mon Rivera y Barry Rogers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A los <strong>15 a\u00f1os<\/strong> llam\u00f3 la atenci\u00f3n del productor dominicano <strong>Johnny Pacheco<\/strong>, quien lo contrat\u00f3 para <strong>Fania Records<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">En <strong>1967<\/strong>, con apenas 17 a\u00f1os, lanz\u00f3 su primer \u00e1lbum, <strong>El Malo<\/strong>, junto al cantante <strong>H\u00e9ctor Lavoe<\/strong>, disco por el que fue apodado como <strong>El Malo<\/strong>. Entre sus \u00e9xitos m\u00e1s recordados est\u00e1n \u201cPedro Navaja\u201d, \u201cTodo tiene su final\u201d, \u201cGitana\u201d, \u201cIdilio\u201d y \u201cEl gran var\u00f3n\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Al margen de su carrera musical, Col\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n se destac\u00f3 como <strong>defensor comunitario<\/strong> y <strong>empresario<\/strong>, contribuyendo al desarrollo cultural de la comunidad latina en Nueva York. Le sobreviven su esposa, Julia Col\u00f3n Craig, y sus cuatro hijos: Willie Jr., Diego, Miguel y Antonio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Su
