Y efectivamente, este domingo, el oriundo de Santo Domingo ser\u00e1 exaltado de manera oficial en Cooperstown junto con Todd Helton, Joe Mauer y Jim Leyland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Aquel domingo en el antiguo Ballpark de Arlington hace casi siete a\u00f1os, Beltr\u00e9 dio un doble en conteo de 3-0 frente al zurdo de los Orioles, Wade Miley, deleitando a los fan\u00e1ticos de los Rangers y, por supuesto, a toda su familia presente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cCreo que el hit 3,000 fue el n\u00famero 1, por diferentes razones\u201d, dijo Beltr\u00e9. \u201cN\u00famero 1, nunca pens\u00e9 que iba a estar ah\u00ed. Cuando llegu\u00e9 a Grandes Ligas, uno estaba contento de estar ah\u00ed. Te sentabas en una esquina. No dec\u00edas nada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cEn aquellos tiempos, yo jam\u00e1s esperaba jugar por tanto tiempo\u201d, continu\u00f3 Beltr\u00e9, ahora de 45 a\u00f1os. \u201cNunca pens\u00e9 estar en la conversaci\u00f3n de los 3,000 hits. No estaba eso en mi mente. No jugaba por n\u00fameros. Y no me ve\u00eda como un jugador que pudiera llegar hasta ah\u00ed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">En el 2003, Beltr\u00e9 \u2013 ya en su sexta campa\u00f1a de Grandes Ligas con tan s\u00f3lo 24 a\u00f1os de edad \u2013 jug\u00f3 en los Dodgers con el Sal\u00f3n de la Fama Rickey Henderson, quien a sus 44 a\u00f1os estaba en la \u00faltima temporada de su espectacular carrera de 25 a\u00f1os en las Mayores. Henderson se retirar\u00eda como l\u00edder de todos los tiempos en bases robadas con 1,406 y en carreras anotadas con 2,295, r\u00e9cords que se mantienen hasta hoy en d\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cQued\u00e9 maravillado con los n\u00fameros que \u00e9l ten\u00eda\u201d, record\u00f3 Beltr\u00e9 sobre Henderson. \u201cYo no era una persona de n\u00fameros, pero cuando en el estadio se pon\u00edan esos n\u00fameros en la pizarra, cuando uno ve\u00eda los n\u00fameros que \u00e9l ten\u00eda, pens\u00e9, \u2018Wow, esto es incre\u00edble\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Al fin y al cabo, Beltr\u00e9 superar\u00eda a Henderson en imparables, 3,166 a 3,055.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cJam\u00e1s pens\u00e9 que estar\u00eda en la conversaci\u00f3n junto con Rickey en torno a hits\u201d, expres\u00f3 Beltr\u00e9. \u201cPara nada\u2026 era inconcebible para m\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cCuando llegu\u00e9 a ese n\u00famero, fue incre\u00edble pensar que hab\u00eda llegado.
